Vanessa Shelton

Position:
Softball Assistant Coach

Vanessa Shelton returns to CCS after playing two seasons for the Sasquatch region champion softball team in 2003 and 2004. She was a two-sport athlete in college, her first love being basketball.
However, it was softball that earned her the most prestigious honors in the nation. While playing for Spokane she earned First Team Eastern Region, First Team All-NWAACC and First Team NFCA All-American honors both her freshman and sophomore seasons. That is unprecedented and it could be argued that Vanessa is the best softball player to wear a Sasquatch uniform. Vanessa also set the record for most stolen bases in a season with 34 and in a career with 51. She continued to impress coaches at the next level as she played her final season at Eastern Oregon University. She was voted to the First Team All-Conference, All-Region Team and the First Team NAIA All-American team. She led the league in batting average (.402) and tied the current NAIA record for most triples in a game with three. We are fortunate to have her on our coaching staff as she prepares our outfielders and our hitters for the upcoming 2008 season.
