Jim Martinson enters his 16th season as the women’s head coach of the Sasquatch in 2016. Previously, he spent seven years as an assistant to Hall of Fame coach Cor van der Meer with the men’s program from 1994 to 2001. In 2005, Martinson rejoined the men’s staff as an assistant.

A native of Portland, Oregon, Martinson attended Whitworth University from 1989 to1993 where he completed his bachelor's degree in Sports Medicine and Physical Education. In 1992, he was the NCSC Player of the Year and an NAIA All-American. From 1995 to 1997, Martinson played in the USL for the Spokane Shadow soccer team. He finished his master's degree in Athletic Administration at Whitworth University in 1999.
 
Martinson has led the Sasquatch to thirteen post-season appearances. In 2006, he guided the team to their first ever NWAC Championship and first 20 win season with a record of 20-3-2. In 2012 the ladies were crowned the NWAC Eastern region champions and narrowly lost in the NWAC Championship in a shootout.  The 2014 campaign ended with the teams third East Region Title and second 20 win season.  In 2015 the team was again crowned both the East Region Champions and an NWAC champions.  Martinson has led the team to seven final four appearances in 2003, 2004, 2006, 2010, 2012, 2014, 2015 and 2016 with quarterfinal appearances in 2002, 2005, 2009, 2011 and 2013.
 
Martinson has been named the Eastern Region Coach of the Year seven times (2003, 2006, 2009, 2010, 2012, 2013, 2014 and 2016) and was named the NWAC Coach of the Year in 2006, 2012 and 2015. Under his direction the Sasquatch have compiled an overall record of 225-80-47 and 214-64-39 against NWAC teams.
 
Martinson’s experience and knowledge of the game are a tremendous attribute for the CCS women's soccer program. Martinson currently holds his United States Soccer Federation "C" license. Jim has a beautiful wife, Terri, and four daughters, Ashtin, Riley, Abbigail and Gracelynn
