Spokane Routes Everett to Win Bill Faller Tournament in Yakima

Spokane won three out of four in Yakima to take the Bill Faller Tournament Title over the weekend.  Spokane beat Everett CC in the opener 9-6. Spokane scored nine runs on 12 hits. Mark Purser and Matt Starr led the way for the Sasquatch with three hits apiece. Kevin Lathim added two hits for Spokane. Lathim and Starr each hit a triple in the game.  Mike Richard earned his second win of the season going six innings.

The Sasquatch lost to Yakima in the second game 7-6. Colby Crawford took the loss in and moved to 2-1 on the season.  Stewart Macy threw three shutout innings in relief. Spokane’s defense committed four costly errors in the game.  Offensively Spokane managed just seven hits led by Justin Murphy with two.

In the nightcap on Saturday Spokane beat Shoreline 9-5. Martin Aguirre earned his second win of the season going six innings allowing one run. Spokane pounded out 13 hits in the game. Mark Purser had three hits including a double and a triple. Taylor King, Mike Bartlett, and Kelly Gau all added two hits.

Spokane routed Everett in the championship game of the tournament 19-5. Spokane had 21 hits in the game. Several players had big days at the plate. Mat Starr had five hits and Ian Atkinson Had four hits in the game. Mark Purser chipped in with three doubles and seven RBI’s. Cam Christian hit his first homerun of the season in the third inning. Christian also earned his second win on the mound.

Spokane will head to Wenatchee on Thursday after finals to open Eastern Region play. Spokane will be at home Sunday against Treasure Valley Community College.
