Spokane Swept by Yakima
Spokane was swept in an Eastern Region Double header on Saturday afternoon. Spokane lost the first game 7-5. Spokane managed just five hits in the game led by a run scoring double from Derek Carley. Spokane’s defense committed four errors in the game. Starter Cam Christian went five innings with four strikeouts and four walks. Justin Murphy allowed one run in four innings of relief.
Game two starter Colby Crawford allowed one run in seven innings of work walking just one Yakima batter. However, the bullpen couldn’t hang on to the lead. Yakima scored a single run in the eighth and two in the ninth to take the lead. Offensively Spokane scored three runs on 10 hits. Sophomore third baseman Ian Atkinson had four hits in the game for Spokane. Spokane loaded the bases in the ninth inning with one out. Yakima’s closer came on to strike out the final two batters of the game to preserve the win for the Yaks.
