Women's Soccer Season Preview/Review

2007-08 Women’s Soccer Season Review

The 2007 Community Colleges of Spokane women’s soccer team finished the regular season with an overall record of 11-8-3.  In the East Region CCS took third place recording a record of 11-4-3.  The ladies were impressive down the stretch as they battled in the last league match of the season to earn a playoff spot for the sixth consecutive time.  Spokane’s first round playoff match was hosted by Tacoma Community College, the number two seed from the west region.   The match got off to a shaky start as we were scored on just seven minutes into the match.  Spokane could not equalize before the half as the score at the break remained 1-0.  After a few minor adjustments the ladies found themselves with the run of the play in the early minutes of the second half.  Tacoma managed a counter attack in the 67th minute where they went up by two.  Both teams found the net in the final minutes of the match, but Tacoma proved to be the better team stopping any other scoring chances.   The ladies season came to an end with a 3-1 loss at Tacoma.

Spokane had three players selected to represent the Northeast in the NWAACC All-Star match.  This list includes sophomore Raeanne Cumbie and freshmen Christine Almquist and Patty Duncan.   The match was played on December 1st resulting in a 1-1 draw.  Christine Almquist scored the Northeast’s only goal of the match.    Three players were also selected the Eastern All-Region Team.  This list includes sophomores Raeanne Cumbie, Shaunae Phillipy and freshman Patty Duncan.  The ladies were also impressive in the classroom as Spokane had four sophomores selected to the NWAACC All-Academic team.  All four ladies boasted an overall GPA greater than 3.31 with at least 36 credit hours.  Congratulations to Raeanne Cumbie, Shaunae Phillipy, Lindsay Hood and Letti Rubalcava.

Congratulations on many fine accomplishments ladies!!
